Creative Ballet Class Guidelines

Term Dates

Our classes follow Wiltshire school’s timetable and we invoice in half term/6 week blocks. Dates for a block of classes will be sent out before the beginning of each term.

Our teachers are also working dancers and occasionally have other projects going on during term time so we may not be able to have a class on that week. If this happens it will be reflected ahead of time in the dates for the term and the cost. We will make sure that this is clear in all communications and will also send out a reminder to parents before the day. Where possible we will cover these classes with a guest teacher.

Fees and Payment and Re-Enrolment

All fees must be paid on or before the first class of the block of classes.

All fees are paid through Book That In. For regular weekly classes we use an automatic re-enrolment system. This ensures that your child’s place in the class is held and makes payment easier. We send out an email before a new block of classes starts to let you know the dates and give opportunity for parent to let us know if a child is not returning. After this we will take automatic payment through Book That In before the new class block starts. Please contact createmovedance if you do not receive a re-enrolment email.

All fees are non-refundable. If a pupil has a long-term illness or injury, fees may be refunded at the createmovedance’s discretion. This does not include minor illness or holidays taken during the term.

Classes and Attendance

Parents of children in our youngest class – Ballet Prep – must remain on the premises at all times whilst their child is in attendance at createmovedance events and classes.

On the rare occasion that a class is cancelled, it will be rescheduled, usually during the school holidays. If this is not possible, any fees already paid for the scheduled class will be subtracted from the next term’s fees.

Createmovedance will not be held responsible for classes cancelled for circumstances beyond the School’s control i.e. due to adverse weather conditions / a force majeure.

Students must be on time to class, and be picked up on time.

Communication

We communicate through email and also have a Whats App community for announcements and for each of our classes. Once you have enrolled for classes you will be added to the createmovedance Whats App community and to the group that your child/ren are attending. You will also be subscribed to our website so that you can receive class updates – you can unsubscribe to this at any time.

Clothing

We do not require students to wear any specific uniform but DO request that they wear appropriate clothing. Students should wear either a leotard and leggings or a t-shirt and leggings. Ballet skirts are allowed as long as they are fit for purpose. Please DO NOT send your child to class in a tutu or other costume. These tend to have layers, are too long and may catch or hurt someone else when dancing.

All jewellery should be removed before class.

We do not use shoes in our younger classes. The floor is slippery and we prefer children to have bare feet to encourage the correct use and development of the feet before wearing more restrictive shoes. If you need to purchase dance shoes for a specific class you will be informed by the class teacher.

Open Classes

At the end of each term, parents are invited into the class for the all or part of the session depending on the age of the children. The work shared during this time will be a compilation of what the children have been doing throughout the term.

Special Event

Once a year (usually at Christmas) we host a special event for all the family. A traditional ballet is chosen as the focus for each year and all of our classes come together to perform to each other and to friends and family. As part of the event we do the children’s hair and make up and have a space set up so that the children (and any adults) can watch the chosen ballet.

Parental Responsibility

We would like to emphasis that parents are responsible for their children before and after the structured class time. If your child needs assistance going to the toilet please ensure that you are available to take them during the class if needed. We also ask that parents clear up any mess, in the changing room or the toilets, before they leave as we are expected to leave the premises in the same condition that we found it.

Parental Support

We recognise that children sometimes need the support of a parent or other family member during a class particularly in the first few weeks. Parents are welcome to come into the class with their children at any time if needed. Chairs are available and parents are also welcome to participate in the class with their child.

Note: Tea and coffee is available for parents who are waiting for their children although we do ask for contributions to cover the cost of this (there is usually a jar next to the tea/coffee). There is also a great play area behind the hall for younger/older siblings if the weather permits.

Health

Please notify createmovedance of any medical issues or learning difficulties that may affect your child’s learning, however big or small it should be. This can help us to help them.

Any injuries should be discussed with the teacher prior to, or at the beginning of, class.

If a child is ill and not able to dance please do not send them to class. If a child becomes too ill to dance during a lesson we will bring the child out of the class to the responsible parent/guardian.

If your child is injured (for example broken arm, sprained ankle) they may be able to watch the class, however this needs to be discussed with the teacher prior to the class.

Photographs and Film

On occasion createmovedance take photographs or videos for advertisement of classes and events. The use of these can include our website, social media and printed material. These will not be used without consent indicated on the booking form.

Parents are permitted to take photos on a watching or demonstration day unless another parent in the class objects on the day. The teachers will always ask everyone’s permission before the demonstration class begins. We ask parents to refrain from recording/videoing the class for child protection and copyright reasons.

On occasions we invite a professional photographer or to come in and photographs or take our own photos during  a  class or special event.  Any professional photos taken will be available for you to buy and from time to time we use these for publicity purposes on our website or to publicise events and classes.
